As spring is already bringing new life, a new couple of paintings belonging to the DROPS series has come to life. Their names are AQUA and SAND and, as usually, they are inspired to a peculiar natural feature, namely the river and the sand.
Mentre la primavera sta già portando nuova vita, una nuova coppia di dipinti appartenenti alla serie DROPS è venuta alla luce. Si chiamano AQUA e SAND e come sempre sono ispirati ad una peculiare caratteristica naturale, in questo caso il fiume e la sabbia.

The river carries within itself a special symbolism, corresponding to the creative power of Nature and Time. So it recalls both fertility and the passage of time itself, thus carrying a sense of loss and oblivion. The water in the river is characterized by continuous movement, and it finds its own way through the Earth's surface, and even underneath. A river is born as a small bubbling mountain stream, and during its route can become a waterfall, a rapid, a basin, or a majestic and placid flow ending with a delta merging into the sea or the ocean. Moreover, almost all great cultures and cities have been born on river sides. So, where are you now in your life? Is the water of your river calm or raging? Are you heading to your goal, finding your way in life or are you doubtfully bending backwards? Or maybe you are exploring your path to your origins, or have become a carsic river. You can also sit on the sand of the shore and watch the water flow.
Il fiume richiama ad un simbolismo speciale, che corrisponde alla forza creativa della Natura e del Tempo. Così richiama sia la fertilità, che il passaggio del tempo stesso, rimandando un senso di perdita e oblio. L'acqua del fiume è caratterizzata da un movimento continuo, e trova la propria strada attraverso la superficie terrestre, e anche sotto di essa. Un fiume nasce come sorgente gorgogliante, per diventare torrente di montagna, e lungo la sua corsa può essere cascata, rapida, bacino, o un placido e maestoso corso d'acqua che diventa delta per gettarsi nel mare o nell'oceano. Attorno ad un fiume nascono inoltre le più grandi civiltà e città del mondo. E dove sei tu adesso nella tua vita? L'acqua del tuo fiume è calma o scrosciante? Punti dritto alla tua meta, trovando la tua strada con certezza, o stai tornando indietro in preda al dubbio? O forse stai esplorando il sentiero che ti riporta alle tue origini, o sei un fiume carsico. Puoi anche sedere sulla sabbia della riva e osservare l'acqua che scorre.

While sitting on the shore, you can play with the sand. The sand is strictly connected to the earth but its mineral origin gives it a special quality, as well as different colours and shiny reflexes. Sand can vary in colour and temperature; from the river's and ocean's wet and fresh shores to the desert's hot and sandy wastelands. And even though life might seem impossible to manifest, animals and plants can live in the sand. You can also walk on the sand, leaving your imprint, feeling the weight and movement of your body, choosing a direction. The sand is also related to something ephimeral or intangible, like time running by in an hourglass, or like dunes pushed by the wind and moving in the desert. A desert is where you feel the openess, the infinite access and possibilities. It's the realm of abstraction where human beings can feel a relation with God. Have you already traced your path in sand? Where are you bound? And have you found a spiritual dimension?
Mentre sei seduta sulla spiaggia puoi giocare con la sabbia. La sabbia è strettamente connessa alla terra, ma la sua origine minerale le conferisce una qualità speciale, così come diversi colori e riflessi luccicanti. La sabbia può variare in colore e temperatura, passando da quella delle fresche spiagge di fiumi e laghi fino a quella delle distese sconfinate di torridi deserti. E anche se sembra impossibile che ci siano manifestazioni di vita, molti animali e piante vivono in questo ambiente. Si può anche camminare sulla sabbia, lasciando la nostra impronta, sentendo il peso e il movimento generati dal nostro corpo, scegliendo una direzione. La sabbia è anche correlata a qualcosa di effimero e intangibile, come il passare del tempo nella clessidra, o come le dune che si spostano sospinte dal vento. Il deserto è un luogo in cui si percepisce la vastità, come una sensazione di accesso a infinite possibilità. E' il regno dell'astrazione, dove l'essere umano può percepire una relazione con Dio. Hai già tracciato il tuo percorso nella sabbia? Dove sei diretta? E hai trovato una dimensione spirituale?
Playing with water and sand is a playful and necessary activity for the human being. You can create bricks and build whatever you need. This is what mankind has been doing since the beginning of time.
Giocare con acqua e sabbia, è un'attività ludica e necessaria per l'essere umano. Puoi fabbricare mattoni da cuocere al sole e costruire quello che ti serve. Questo è ciò che il genere umana ha fatto sin dall'inizio dei tempi.
As you might already know, the series of paintings called DROPS is the inspiration for the WEARABLE ART project. The paintings AQUA and SAND make no exception, so let me introduce two new scarves of the collection. The first is tuquoise and the second has a earthy colour.
Come già sapete, la serie DROPS è di ispirazione per il progetto ARTE DA INDOSSARE. I dipinti AQUA e SAND non fanno eccezione e quindi vi presento anche due nuove sciarpe della collezione. La prima è turchese e la seconda è di un color terra.

These artworks were made with watercolor and ink drawing on Italian Fabriano 100% cotton paper. They measure 27.50x19.7 inches, that is 70x50 centimetres.
